Counts War a danish history

118

The Count’s Feud is traditionally regarded as Denmark’s last civil war to date. In recent years, however, some historians have begun to regard the Three-Year War 1848-50 as a civil war, and the Count’s Feud was not a pure civil war, as foreign powers played a significant role in its outbreak, course and outcome. However, the war revealed large social and religious fractures in Danish society and can far from be regarded as a showdown between citizens and peasants on the one hand and the nobility on the other. This showdown was won by the military and economic upper class, but the conflict was complicated by the fact that both parties had or got allies outside the kingdom.
