The Baron’s War: Simon de Montfort l’Amaury was a French count and earl of Leicester in England. He participated in the Fourth Crusade against Constantinople and was later appointed by Pope Innocent 3 to lead the crusade against the Albigensians in southern France. He fought very hard in the war in 1209–1218 and defeated the “heretics”. He fell in battle during the siege of Toulouse.
