The way of the slaves to the Colosseum
Slaves could get to the amphitheater in several ways - some more pleasant than others.

Workers: Under the arena floor, an army of slaves worked, while the audience watched the performance. Among other things, slaves drove predators into the elevator and pulled them up into the arena. They also dragged corpses and dead animals out during the breaks.

Gladiators: The gladiators were also slaves - usually prisoners of war with the talent to fight. Rarely did the gladiators win their freedom in the arena, usually continuing their careers until one day they died dramatically.

Spectator: An area called Summa Cavea, top floor, was reserved for slaves. There they sat with the poor and foreigners.
