In 1610 began what has been called the first Anglo-Powhatan war. This was a war between the Indians of the Powathan Confederacy of tribes and the immigrants (settlers) from England in what is now Virginia. During the war, Pocahontas traveled to a village controlled by the Patawomeck tribe, a tribe that was not fully loyal to the Powathan Confederacy.
